Gartner’s 2026 CMO research agenda puts agentic AI and brand value at the center of marketing leadership, signaling that AI is becoming an org-design issue, not just a tool choice. At the same time, MarketScale reports that AI is now the first gatekeeper in B2B procurement, shaping supplier shortlists before buyers ever contact a vendor. That shift makes content marketing, SEO, GEO, and AEO more connected than ever.
The numbers back it up. According to Semrush, around 50% of consumers now use AI to research products and services before engaging a vendor. Semrush also found AI influences purchase decisions in consumer goods (39%), travel (21%), and financial services (13%). In other words, buyers are increasingly asking AI systems to filter, summarize, and recommend before they click through to a brand site.
This is changing what good content looks like. Brands now need content that is easy for people to read and easy for AI systems to understand, cite, and surface. That means stronger structure, clearer brand authority, and content built for zero-click discovery as well as organic search. The latest message from the market is simple: visibility now depends on being findable by both humans and machines.
