AI content tools are speeding up production, but why are marketing campaigns taking longer to launch?

That is the clearest signal in Typeface’s 2026 Signal Report, highlighted in Siteoscope’s Sept. 2 coverage. While 88% of marketing leaders say content can now be generated quickly, approval sign-off is still the main bottleneck. The report says 34% of leaders now need one to two months to launch a single campaign, up from just 5% in 2025. At the same time, 93% say they feel more pressure to move faster, even as execution slows.

The coordination burden is also growing. Typeface found that 92% of respondents now need ten or more stakeholders for a campaign, and 44% need twenty or more, versus 10% last year. That helps explain why AI has not fully translated into faster marketing execution. The market is shifting from “how do we create more content?” to “how do we approve, coordinate, and ship it without adding headcount?”

That same pattern shows up in other recent coverage. FinTech Global reported the launch of Vertice AI’s Vertice OPTIMIZE, a system designed to connect growth targets directly to campaigns, build calendars, identify audiences, generate compliant personalized content, and launch with a single approval. Separately, LayerFive cited Gartner’s 2026 CMO Spend Survey showing CMOs allocate 15.3% of budgets to AI, while only 30% are ready to scale it. Supermetrics also found just 6% have fully embedded AI into workflows, and 52% do not own their data strategy. The message is consistent: AI adoption is broad, but execution systems and context are still missing.

Are we entering the next phase of marketing, where the real advantage is not more content, but more automated content execution?
