From SEO laggard to the brand AI Overviews can’t stop citing
Where they were before the engine
Warner Scott was creating thoughtful long-form content on senior finance hiring, but generative engines kept summarizing their competitors. Google’s AI Overview, Perplexity, and ChatGPT – none of them treated Warner Scott as a primary source for the queries that matter: “executive recruitment for financial talent in Dubai”, “private equity hiring London”, “chief credit officer search”. Their topic authority was strong; their AI-citation rate was near zero.
How the engine got to work
Company Model + ICP rebuild
Upfront-AI’s Company Model engine restructured Warner Scott’s positioning around three buyer personas (Managing Partner, Head of Talent, Group COO) and four practice areas. The output became the spine for every downstream content decision.
GEO content audit
We ran a site-wide GEO/AIO/AEO audit on Warner Scott’s existing 80+ pages. The audit identified 22 articles that were ranking on Google but invisible to AI engines, and pinpointed structural fixes – TL;DR blocks, citation-friendly statements, schema – that would change that.
LLM query mining
Instead of optimizing for keywords from Ahrefs, we mined what executives actually ask Perplexity, ChatGPT, and Claude when they’re researching a head-hunt. That query set became the briefs for the next 30 articles.
Brand voice training
Upfront learned Warner Scott’s voice – sharp, senior, slightly editorial – so every output read like the existing best work, not a sea of generic AI prose.
Continuous refresh
Every two weeks, the engine refreshes the top 20 articles based on which AI engines are citing what – a feedback loop classic SEO tools don’t have.
